PowerBillCheck

The App That Helps Canadians Check the Accuracy of Their Energy Bills

If your electricity or natural gas bills feel too high or inconsistent, PowerBillCheck shows you what you should really be paying β€” using your own meter readings and your real tariff values.

Across Canada, many households struggle to confirm whether their bills are accurate. Estimated reads, unclear statements, delivery fees, carbon charges, and unpredictable billing cycles make verification difficult.

PowerBillCheck gives you clear, reliable calculations using your real numbers β€” no smart meter access, no portal logins, and no complicated TOU breakdowns.

  • βœ” Unit rate (Β’/kWh)
  • βœ” Delivery charge (Β’/kWh)
  • βœ” Daily fixed charge ($/day)
  • βœ” GST/HST rate (5%, 12%, 13% or 15%)
  • βœ” Any additional electricity fees or charges

For natural gas, you'll enter:

  • βœ” Gas unit rate ($/mΒ³ or $/GJ)
  • βœ” Delivery charge
  • βœ” Carbon charge (if separate)

Step 2 – Log Your Meter Readings

Take monthly readings from your electricity meter and natural gas meter, then enter them into PowerBillCheck.

Even if you have a smart meter, physical readings help avoid missing data or inaccurate portal estimates.

You’ll instantly see:

  • βœ” kWh used (electricity)
  • βœ” mΒ³ or GJ used (gas)
  • βœ” Exact cost of consumption
  • βœ” Delivery + fixed charges

If your supplier’s bill doesn’t match your real calculated total, you’ll know immediately.

Step 3 – Add Timestamped Photos for Proof

Attach photos of your electricity or natural gas meter to each reading. Each image is timestamped automatically.

This gives you verifiable proof if you ever need to dispute a bill with:

  • βœ” Hydro companies
  • βœ” Natural gas providers
  • βœ” Landlords

All photos stay on your device β€” nothing is uploaded or shared.

Track Your Carbon Output

PowerBillCheck shows not only what you’re being charged, but how much electricity and gas you’re actually using. Tracking your real consumption over time helps you understand the effects of changes you make at home, such as reducing electric heating or improving insulation.

Because this usage is the foundation of your carbon output, PowerBillCheck also gives you a reliable way to monitor your environmental impact. With accurate, usage-based insights β€” not generic estimates β€” you can make informed decisions that benefit both your wallet and the planet.
