Do you suspect your home or business is being overcharged for Electricity?

If this sounds familiar, read on. If you’re completely confident your bills are accurate, EnergyCheck may not be for you.

EnergyCheck

The Energy Tracker App That Helps Ireland Check the Accuracy of Energy Bills.

Ireland faces some of the highest household electricity costs in Europe, Energy suppliers make it difficult for households and businesses to verify their real usage, while weak regulatory oversight has left many struggling with soaring costs.

Built for iPhone and iPad, EnergyCheck cross-references your energy supplier’s bill with your real meter readings to confirm it's accurate - and gives you proof if it's not.

EnergyCheck can be downloaded from the iOS app store Ireland.

Input Your Existing Fixed Energy Tariffs

To verify your bills properly, start by entering your Irish suppliers electricity and gas tariffs into EnergyCheck.

Just input your unit rate in c/kWh, your daily standing charge in €/day, and the VAT rate (typically 9% for domestic energy). If your supplier includes carbon tax within the unit rate, you don’t need to enter anything extra — simply use the rate shown on your bill.

Once saved, EnergyCheck applies these values to your readings automatically, giving you a clear and accurate view of your true energy costs in euros.

Log Your Meter Reads and See Your Real Usage

Each month — ideally just before your bill is issued — take a manual reading from your electricity and gas meters and enter it into EnergyCheck.

EnergyCheck uses your meter readings plus your tariff details to calculate your actual costs in euros — not estimates. You’ll see exactly how many kWh you used, how much of your bill is standing charge, and how much comes from real consumption. If the amount on your supplier’s bill doesn’t match, you’ll know — and you’ll have the figures to back it up.

Attach Timestamped Photos to Each Reading

Suppliers can dispute numbers. Landlords can question readings. But a clear photo of the meter with a timestamp is hard to argue with.

EnergyCheck includes Photo Meter Logging so you can snap and store images of your electricity and gas meters alongside each reading. Over time, this builds a verifiable timeline of your usage that you can rely on in any dispute with a supplier, landlord or letting agent.

All photos and readings are stored on your device only — nothing is uploaded or shared with anyone.

Chart Your Real Elec and Gas Usage

Energy supplier apps often feel deliberately confusing — cluttered charts, vague estimates and complicated breakdowns that make it hard to see what’s really going on.

EnergyCheck keeps it simple. With clear bar and line charts, you can see how much energy you’re using, when you’re using it, and how much it’s costing you month to month. No gimmicks — just real data in a format you can understand at a glance.

Export Your Data

EnergyCheck lets you export your meter readings, costs and energy usage as a CSV or PDF file whenever you need to.

Whether you want to keep a personal record, compare against historic bills, or send clear evidence to your supplier, the export feature gives you full control over your data.

We believe in transparency. With CSV and PDF export, you can store, review and manage your energy data in whatever way works best for you — without relying on any supplier portal.

Track Your Carbon Output

EnergyCheck accurately calculates the carbon footprint of your electricity and gas use, turning your real energy data into clear, meaningful carbon figures. Instead of estimates or generic assumptions, EnergyCheck uses your actual consumption to show the environmental impact of how you power your home.

Understanding your carbon output makes the invisible visible. It allows you to see where emissions are coming from, track how changes reduce your footprint, and avoid unintentional waste.

With precise, transparent carbon calculations, EnergyCheck gives you the information needed to make responsible choices — whether that’s cutting emissions, reducing energy waste, or understanding the environmental cost of everyday decisions.
